JUSTICE CENTRE HONG KONG IS NOW ASYLUM SERVICES & KNOWLEDGE

NEW NAME, SAME SERVICE, SAME EXPERTISE

Rebrand Launch Event, May 28, 2026. From Left Dr. Candice Powell, Kaavya Viswanathan, Tim Parker SC and Honourable Mr. Justice Russell Coleman.

On May 28, we marked the official launch of Asylum Services & Knowledge (ASK), our new brand identity replacing Justice Centre Hong Kong.

We were honoured to be joined by The Honourable Mr Justice Russell Coleman, now Justice of Appeal the Court of Appeal of the High Court; Mr. Tim Parker SC of Temple Chambers Hong Kong and Blackstone Chambers UK; and Dr. Candice Powell, CEO of Mind HK. Our new name, ASK, is simpler, more intuitive and highlights the organisation’s dual role: Delivering asylum services to people seeking protection, and Building sector-wide knowledge through training, resource creation, and community development.

Mr. Tim Parker SC described ASK as playing "a unique role" in supporting asylum seekers through legal assistance and access to welfare and mental health services. He also recognized ASK as "a vital resource for the legal community," in its role sharing specialist knowledge of non-refoulement law and supporting broader engagement with the legal system.

Dr. Candice Powell highlighted ASK’s compassionate, stepped-care approach to mental health, noting the importance of prevention, early intervention, and treating displaced people as whole human beings.

By helping people understand and engage with the system responsibly, and by strengthening professional capacity across the legal, welfare, and mental health sectors, ASK contributes to better decisions and more sustainable outcomes. Our work ensures a thriving Hong Kong, where everyone has a fair chance at a safe and decent life.
